Back2Roots Retreat: The Road Less Travelled, The Real Bali

Date: 22 - 27 March 2019

Location: Bali, Indonesia

Instructor: Brooke Elliston & Lara Zilibowitz

About the Retreat

It's time to let your palate climb its way up into the untouched coconut forests and banana plantations at the edge of East Bali. Come and plunge your soul into this wilderness sanctuary away from civilisation with us...

At the end of a winding pathway through the jungle, where forest meets the sea, is a natural playground equipped with the kind of simple tree-top houses overlooking the surf, that strip you back to what's most important in life and stimulate the type of soul guidance and wisdom through the art of listening to the earth from your heart.

Join facilitators Brooke Elliston and Lara Zilibowitz for 5 nights and six days of dynamic yoga, Tantric Meditation, live soundscapes, ceremony and of course wild natural adventuring...

Immersion

Our days will be filled with tropical romping and roving as we fertilise the soil and seedlings of our innermost ecology through a combination of guided practices, self-reflection and outward adventure.

Our coconut forest cocoon is a playground of delights, and we’ll leave plenty of time for you to wander and wonder whilst exploring the black sand and surf of Jasri beach, getting very familiar with the chocolate factory on site or putting your feet up in a swaying palm hammock with a fresh coconut, or treat yourself in one of our onsite massage rooms.

About the Teachers

Brooke is an internationally travelling yoga teacher and co-founder of Back2Roots Retreats, hosting transformative yoga and meditation retreats around the world. Forever a student, she revels in the opportunity to connect with new communities and share the rich alchemy of the practice that has opened infinite doorways of growth in her own life.

Brooke’s teachings are deeply rooted in the ancient teachings of Yoga and Tantra and the potent transmissions of the esoteric mystics - using poetry, music and sensual movement to offer a glimpse and gateway into expanded states and experiences otherwise indescribable.

Her classes are intentionally slow, honouring the need for time, space and deep listening to savour the full spectrum of pleasure to pain, as a gateway to understanding the most intimate wisdom of what it means to be alive.

Lara is an internationally touring yoga teacher and artist, and co-founder of Back2Roots Retreats, hosting transformative immersions around the world spreading her passion for movement and creative expression through the body.

She has become renowned for her fluid and dynamic teaching style, delivered with heartfelt poetic prose, inviting students to savour the texture of every sensation as a portal into revelation and dynamic moving meditation.

A class with Lara is raw, playful and powerful as we journey from the outside in. Inspired deeply by the teachings inherent in nature, each practice is a call for a conscious connection with ourselves and the world around us.

Lara spreads this vital energy around the globe leading workshops and retreats and is faculty on numerous international yoga festivals, conferences and teacher trainings, including an assistant to global movement alchemist Shiva Rea. She is a key influencer and ambassador for yoga & lifestyle brands such as Lululemon Athletica, Wanderlust festivals and Aveda hair and skin care, and has graced the cover of Yoga Journal. When she isn’t teaching, globe-trotting, and empowering others, you’ll likely find Lara making her signature ceramics and artwork out of Byron Bay, Australia.

Accommodation

Our lodgings will be onsite in traditional Balinese villa accommodation at Shanti Agung and round the corner (440 m) at Aashaya Resort. Both locations exude a raw simplicity, in keeping with their tropical beach-side location, with options from solo or twin share tree-top mosquito net-swaddled sanctuaries looking out over the surf, to honeymoon suite seclusion, depending on your sleep preferences.

Food

What makes this place so special, more than the site of the majestic Mt AVgung olcano on one side or the perfect point break swimming with local sea turtles on the other, is the love poured into it over the last decade. This special refuge has been donated to a local family who has infused it with the kind of Indonesian homeliness and openness that makes Bali so special.

You will be nourished from the inside out with the most exquisite local flavours, celebrating the abundance of tropical Bali. Our beautiful cooks Mr and Mrs Komung, are the homeowners and householders, and they lovingly welcome us to dine at their family table. You can look forward to three healthy doses a day of this Balinese medicine - predominately vegan with eggs and fish available for those who wish.

All fresh, all local, all DELICIOUS.
