Understanding the bandhas
About this session
In this lecture, Laruga introduces you to the three Bandhas that are used in the Ashtanga yoga practice. Bandhas are used to create internal alignment and act as support to the action of the asanas - they help you connect to the center of the body. Working with Bandhas can also help you to build up attention and increase you presence in the practice.
Mula Bandha – the Root lock
Uddiyana Bandha – the Flying-up lock
Jalandhara Bhanda – the Chin lock
Mula Bandha and Uddiyana Bandha always work together, they are interrelation and we try to maintain engagement of these Bandhas throughout our practice.
Jalandhara Bandha on the other hand is used in more assigned places in the practice.
