About the workshop

This an in-depth study with Chad Hamrin, Master Teacher from Los Angeles, USA. Chad taught at Alan Fingers studio in the 80`s. Chad was Maty Ezratys and Chuck Millers teacher and then went on to teach at YogaWorks when Alan and co opened that.

Chad is today one of the more authentic voices of yoga and its path through the body, yoking the mind and spirit. This immersion workshop is for any student who wish to broaden and deepen ones yoga practice and understanding of the architecture of the poses. Dive deeper into the yogic experience and strengthen your personal, daily practice with this experienced and well renowed teacher.

Schedule

  • Day 1: Hips - Hip openers are always intriguing, they offer a wide range of opportunity to both strengthen and increase range of motion, but also so much more. There is also an opportunity to explore the psycho/emotional aspects of unconscious holding patterns. So we will explore ways to move from the simple to the complex.
  • Day 2: Thoracic spine - Thoracic spine and how it relates to the neck and shoulders, energetically and anatomically. The is an extremely important area to understand for any student of yoga. We’ll explore through a variety of asanas to get a good understanding to enhance ur practice.
  • Day 3: Core - Core work is a very interesting topic. Understood by many, practiced by few. It’s more than just an abdominal circumstance and one needs to know how it interacts with every aspect of an asana, pranayama, dhyana, and just daily life.
  • Day 4: Yoga - What are we really doing with yoga? Well there may be many answers to this question but I am focusing this more in regards to Patanjali”s eight limbs of ashtanga yoga. How when one is practicing asana skillfully one is involved with all the limbs.
  • Day 5: Let's play - Take your yoga practice seriously enough to have fun with it. One’s attention and intention are much more open when one is playful, interested, willing to push the edge without force. So we’ll entertain ourselves with a variety of simple poses to find the complexity and find the simplicity in advanced poses.

About Chad Hamrin

In 1967 I became involved with the Martial Arts. I wasn’t aware of it as an art at that time. I entered as a shy, angry teenager and trained hard for a good number of years before I got to the artful part. That eventually led to an understanding that was carried over into my studies of yoga and bodywork. There was always a deeper place to go if you were open to it.

I teach from a place where there’s a journey open to all, called life. Yoga helps us to be more open and present in our journey. I teach to simplify and to hopefully inspire each student to be open to their own journey, open to both the struggles and the joys, and to find a place of deep gratitude instead of perfection.

I don’t really have a style, I have a practice, and it becomes intuitively presented through the teaching or sharing. One doesn’t really teach someone something; the art is to create a circumstance that they get. That’s the joy, a connection to something deeper that they have found.

Chad Hamrin lives and teaches in Los Angeles and now also travel internationally and teach immersions, worskhops and retreats.
